Our science-based targets
In 2024, our near-term science-based emissions reduction targets were independently assessed and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). We have committed to:
• Reduce emissions we control directly and indirectly by 42% by 2030
• Cut emissions from end-of-life treatment of our sold products by 51.6% by 2030
• Encourage 62% of our suppliers to commit to science-based targets by 2028.

Our achievements
• We have installed high efficiency, occupancy sensor based lighting in Knoxfield, Melbourne to further reduce our energy consumption.
• Our Australian sales team has transitioned to hybrid vehicles to reduce scope 1 emissions from fuel use. Currently, 100% of our vehicles are fully electric or plug-in hybrids.

Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)
Karndean provides EPDs for all products (via SCS Global Services), verified to ISO 14025 standards, offering clear environmental life cycle insights. Our products are highly durable, with 35-year domestic and up to 20-year commercial lifespans, supporting long-term sustainability and promoting a more eco-friendly future.

Our gluedown, Korlok, LooseLay Originals, and Karndean LooseLay Longboard ranges receive a GreenTag™ Level ‘A’ rating for quality sustainable building materials.
